Victoria SW1

Amongst the tourists looking for Buck House and Parliament, this is fundamentally a business district and, since the closure of The Cardinal in 2010, is fairly disappointing for dartists - with the exception of multi-board Rileys. Nearby areas: Soho (preferably via a walk through St James' Park).

Recommended pubs

  • Rileys 16 Semley Place
    SW1W 9QJ

There's been a darting revolution in Rileys over the last year or so, and in February 2010 it reached the capital. The company is investing in the sport and paying Phil Taylor to launch 'dart zones' throughout the land. Six high quality boards in a line with excellent lighting and plenty of room ensure that this venue has immediately become one of the best places in central London to play darts. Note: there's no membership fee, and the club is very keen to recruit new teams for any leagues.

  • Other pubs

  • Barley Mow 104 Horseferry Road
    SW1P 2EE

The board is hidden behind giant folding wooden doors, blocked by a massive table. Can't imagine anyone ever plays there (or even knows it contains a board).

  • Belgravia 152 Ebury Street
    SW1W 9JL

Perfectly pleasant if slightly concrete venue for a game of darts. The pub previously had a team, and there's a comfy looking sofa towering above the oche if you need a mid-game rest!

  • Rising Sun 44 Ebury Bridge Road
    SW1W 8PZ

Has a board, but no oche-line, surround or scoreboard; good reports from fellow darters, however, as a place to play in peace.

  • Surprise at Pimlico 110 Vauxhall Bridge Road
    SW1V 2RQ

Sertainly is a surprise all right; undeveloped rough and grotty pub, with an old fashioned double-entry gents toilet. The board is in the back bar. Smells.

  • Whiteferry House 1 Sutherland Street
    SW1V 4LD

Perfectly adequate locals pub with a board and pool table in one bar, by the toilet. Looks rarely used, so no problems getting on the oche.
