Soho W1
Central London for Londoners, with several good options. Nearby areas: Edgware Road, Paddington, Covent Garden, Euston.Recommended pubs
-
Blue Posts 81 Newman Street
W1T 3EUMake sure you find the correct Blue Posts as there are five in and around Soho (there were 15 in 1841 but hey, who's counting?). The board is in the middle of the bar, so if you're gonna play here, throw well. You'll be on show.
-
Bricklayers Arms 31 Gresse Stret
W1T 1QYA lovely little pub with a tremendously cool oche tucked away in the back bar on the ground floor, albeit at bit of a squash.
-
Champion 12-13 Wells Street
W1T 3PAA Sam Smiths pub with beautiful stained glass, a true London feel, and a million people on a summer Friday night. The oche is by the Eastcastle Street entrance.
-
Horse & Groom 128 Great Portland Street
W1W 6PSThere is a spacious, dedicated darts room at the right rear of this Sam Smiths pub, a couple of minutes from Oxford Circus. A London University team plays here.
-
Red Lion 14 Kingly Street
W1B 5PPThe board is next to the downstairs back bar near a table, so is taken down at 5pm most days. Having said that, Dave Gorman has played darts here, so that's worth a recommendation.
-
Tudor Rose 44 Blandford Street
W1U 7HSDecent pub, decent board, gets a little busy on Friday nights and is closed on Sundays. Visited July 2010. Pub suggested by Michael James.
-
Angel in the Fields 37 Thayer Street
W1U 2QUNext to Marylebone High Street, the board is stuck in the corner and often blocked by tables in this extremely pleasant pub.
-
Captains Cabin 4-7 Norris Street
SW1Y 4RJYou probably won’t be able to spot the board, but that’s because it’s only put up for events –making it a perfectly good venue for a very central London darts ‘do’.
-
Comedy 7 Oxenden Street
SW1Y 4EEAmongst the horrors of Leicester Square and Pic Circus is a pub with a dart board to the right of the bar upstairs. It's seen better days, but this is a suprisingly central place for a quick chuck. Visited April 2010.
-
Duke of York 45 Harrowby Street
W1H 5HYUpstairs in strange canteen-like room, the best thing that can be said is that you're unlikely to see anyone else there. Friendly staff tho'.
-
Hope 15 Tottenham Street
W1T 2AWThe board is upstairs, and although there is no clearly defined oche, it's perfectly playable when the pub is not too busy. Suggested by Sam Murphy. Added January 2012. Not visited.
-
One Tun 58-60 Goodge Street
W1T 4LZThere actually wasn't a board up on the last visit to this pub, but everything (including a phone call in Feb '10) suggests that this was a temporary abberation, and that this boozer is proud of its darts. Ideal for a throw after an unsatisfactory visit to Habitat on Tottenham Court Road.
